About us

Mains Farm Caravan Site is a family run quiet touring park, set in the countryside well away from main roads, yet within easy reach of the Lake District, Hadrian’s Wall and the Scottish Borders.

Our Story

As a 6 year old boy Robert moved to Mains Farm with his family as a tenant of the Lazonby estate. Growing up in the countryside and working alongside his father provided Robert with a dream, a passion and a way of living. After studying agriculture at Newton Rigg Robert it led to a life immersed in his passion for all things farming.

Fast forward a few years, Robert and his wife Julie bought the farm in 1988 and committed to a life as dairy farmers and all that entailed rearing a pedigree Holstein Dairy Herd. Fast forward to 2007 and change was needed, always on the look out for new ventures Robert and Julie decided to change from being dairy farmers and turned their hands to sheep. Alongside this they took the brave step to open a caravan site, it started with 2 showers a toilet and 6 caravan hook ups and as they say the rest is history.

Never ones to stand still Robert and Julie are always looking for new ways to improve and expand, superb customer service is what they thrive on. Offering a whole family camping experience with pockets of luxury, all done in keeping with the farms rustic charm. Family is at the heart of everything at Mains Farm.
